Cooking Time!

The other interns and I went to the Douglass Campus to use the Kitchen and cook our recipes yesterday. Me and Tekoa were in charge of preparing huevos rancheros and Anna, Lupe, and Jeimy did the Fettuccine Alfredo. Tekoa did all the chopping of onion, jalapeno, cilantro, and garlic. While I cooked the eggs and put the tortillas to toast for about 2 minutes for all six of us. We worked very well together to make this dish. Being the first time we all cooked these two dishes, we did a great job. I had a whole lot of fun cooking. It was a great experinece. I am very proud of everyone! 🙂

Grocery Shopping

I really enjoyed Grocery shopping with my group. We were able to find everything we needed because we had an organized list of the ingredients.  I think we are ready to cook on wednesday which i am looking foward to.  Besides walking in the hot sun I had fun and I hope we keep doing things like this next year.

Thoughts on food

I learned that food is very important because it is connected to everything but we just did not realize it. Food can affect someone’s self esteem. When you feel upset you tend to eat a lot. When people gain weight feel uncomfortable with themselves and that’s when their self esteem drops. Also, discussed the good and bad foods, protiens, carbs, trans fat. And organic vs. inorganic farms. Learned that regular inorganic foods may be filthy with little space for chickens and give the chickens who knows what to make them grow faster and make us sick.
